The heavens declare the glory of our God,
and the sky, it tells out of his works of power.
All people of this earth, only by grace are you,
Sustained and protected, kept alive hour by hour.
Yet we did not worship him,
Nor give honour to his name,
Worshiped things that he created as though they were the same
Yes we chose the way of disobedience,
Turned and ran full tilt away from him,
Deserved nothing good, but just your wrath,
Our future prospects looking grim.
Yet the Lord is merciful and gracious,
Full of love, he gave to us his spirit,
A new heart creating in us to obey him,
Praise the Lord, for his grace,
He has finished it.
From our mothers womb we were, sinners born of Adam’s flesh,
We were slaves to all our passions, never working righteousness,
Yet you send your son for us, Jesus Christ died in our place,
Bore God’s wrath, washed us with blood, For he loved us.
For what purpose was this done?
A new people to create
In the image of his son, who will do no works of sin,
Who am I, this wretched filthy sinner, to receive the Lord’s abundant grace,
Oh his love, his mercy that someone like me, to his courts could be welcomed in.
Sin be gone, for I no longer serve you,
I was bought and given Jesus’ spirit,
For the Lord in his grace broke the power of sin,
Praise the Lord, for his grace, He has finished it.
